Episode 125 Morals

In plain English, these are the morals from Episode 125:

When Michael and Cricket face off in court, who will win?

This plot is the one that I thought was happening when I was watching the show. I was stunned to see Sharon allow a stranger into the house without checking him out. Just amazing.

Similarly, I didn't understand Sharon's hesitation at paying the $25K to find out information on Millie. It seems to me she'd think that was a small price to pay. That's such paltry money to the Newmans--it seems inconsistent with her character for her not to have lept at that, as Nick did.

Also, by the way, I'm no lawyer but I looked up "blackmail" and "extortion" in my copy of Black's Law Dictionary. The book seems to say that what Al was doing maybe extortion but was certainly not blackmail. Chris used both terms. She should be more careful.

And even if Al was extorting Nick, it doesn't seem to me that either he or Chris is open to any major charges for just trying to get Al to give up information he ought rightly to give up. Paying blackmail is not, to my understanding, a crime. (If there's a lawyer out there who wants to correct me, I'd be interested to hear from them.) Seems crazy for Chris not to say "If you don't do this, I will pursue means to force Al to testify anyway." and then she is not party to his coercion. Doesn't seem to me she has to say "You have no legal option to do this." (But again, maybe I'm confused. Lawyers? Why don't I trust Y&R to have researched this carefully?)

Will Victor find something a little off about Ramona's face?

Wow, those hokey sets are driving me crazy. I had to do something to "legitimize" them! And Marc Singer (Chet)'s prior acting credits certainly played in well here.

Will Rafael now face what Miguel has faced off and on over the years?

I enjoyed seeing Miguel have someone to speak Spanish to, and I especially liked the remark about how Rafael wondered if he now had to be a domestic like Miguel because he was a Latin guy in the US. What's sad is that he was pointing to a source of concern even on Y&R, where the Abbott's new maid is "Maria", for example. How about more Latin people in the regular cast?

Also, related to this, what in the world is Mamie doing back and immediately reverting to a maid after having had her million dollar opportunity to get out of that? Are we to believe that she knows that's her natural lot in life? I don't buy it. I may do something on this on another occasion, but this was really bugging me last couple of days.

That's all for Episode 125's morals. Don't miss Episode 126 and its morals!
