Episode 22 Morals

In plain English, these are the morals from Episode 22:

Nikki Seeks to Expand Her Horizons

Well? It's really work putting Nikki into one of these plots because all she does is sit in her living room and ask what others are up to. She's not involved in anything much to write about. She needs a life. (And perhaps in another episode I'll give her one, but for today I wanted to magnify the painful sense we in the audience have of her present state.)

And, of course, there's Miguel. His most exciting times on stage are when he gets a speaking line like "Hello, Sr. Newman" or "Would anyone like anything to drink?" He makes Nikki look like an active woman! Let's give this guy a life!

Nicholas Plans His Escape from Victor

I think Nick's being pretty juvenile about his plans for the big break-away, so I keep trying to play through the likely consequences in various ways. Every time I do, I come back to his having to lean heavily on someone for help, or end up really losing.

Dru Dresses Up for Her Man

Isn't it Neil who used to advocate Dru becoming a ballerina? Did he think that she would never be great enough for it to be a problem? Or did he just think that when she became great, she'd hold private performances for him and his friends in the garage and never want to get involved for work--perhaps go on tour. In this episode, we explore Neil getting two of his wishes at once--that Dru stop going away on photo shoots, and that Dru pay more attention to ballet--to see if he's prepared for all he claims he wants.

That's all for Episode 22's morals. Don't miss Episode 23 and its morals!
