Episode 59 Morals

In plain English, these are the morals from Episode 59:

Cassie finds Grace and Nick's dirty laundry.

I suppose it's no secret at this point that I'm desperate to see this plot about Nick and Grace having slept together brought to a merciful end. Cassie would have seen someone talk about it by now, since they do it so openly in Grace's apartment. Being the only sensible person around, I expect she ought to tell someone.

Grace offers Newman Enterprise competitors a honey of a deal.

This plot actually began as a way to fill up Grace's office. It was so huge, I didn't feel comfortable giving her any plot here without addressing the issue of how to fill the office. The idea that it would be filled with office equipment seemed the most unlikely of all, so I went for that. And then I wondered what she would do with all that equipment. Well, I knew it couldn't be anything useful for Newman Enterprises, so you can start to see where I'm coming from.

Grace is not skilled labor. She doesn't belong in this position.

Grace is not a senior staffer. She doesn't need this big an office.

Diane threatens to take Victor to the cleaners for harassment.

The real issue here is Victor's stupid and unbelievable marriage to Diane. People on the newsgroup say (and I agree) that they don't find any of the acting in this entire plot thread believable. Some bad decisions need to be undone, and AWO was up to the task! Yeah, it's true: waking up after a dream is a plot device that's been used on many other shows. And yeah, it's a cheap shot. But what other choice did I have? I needed to erase weeks of events that had already happened. It was either this or--well, if there are other options, maybe I'll use them another time so I won't spoil it.

Grace tricks Cole into dirtying the sheets with her.

I keep being bugged about the gun, and wondering when it'd be used. So I got the idea that maybe it'd be fun to have Cole kill Grace (since she sorta needs killing anyway). At first I thought he'd go and hunt her down sort of as a favor to Nick, but then I came upon the idea of having the opportunity kind of `fall into his lap'. So I tried to think of how I'd get Grace into Cole's room late at night and, sadly, only one approach seemed ``in character'' at this point. (How depressing.)

That's all for Episode 59's morals. Don't miss Episode 60 and its morals!
