Episode 40 Morals

In plain English, these are the morals from Episode 40:

Will Nick's New Find Put His Plans Back on Track?

This was just a quick little attempt to put Nick back on track financially. I figured if we got him in trouble with some get-rich-quick schemes, it would help him learn some important lessons about needing to go back to school. In fact, since I wrote this little snippet, I see that Nick is planning to go back to school, and I applaud that. (I do, however, wish he'd go for four years. What's it been now? A year? A year and a half? Let's be realistic for once about how long it takes to get through school.)

Can Bug and Paul Knock Baldwin's Plans Awry?

The Bug is just oh-so-sure that Baldwin is coming back to Moriarty to her Holmes. I think it would be great if he played on her inability to do otherwise--I think this plot captures the best of Michael Baldwin as I remember him--someone who could reach into the mind of his opponent and turn their power against themselves in the best of the Eastern Warrior tradition.

Also, the fans are mixed on the issue of Baldwin returning. He was a great villain, but his success relied on more screentime for the Bug, which wasn't greeted by everyone as a success. To help make the best of both worlds, this episode offers a compromise: The bug gets her day of glory, but Baldwin beats her in the end. That should satisfy both parties, right?

Can Sasha Plan On Help From Dr. Tim?

Boy, there was one day when Phyllis gave Danny a hint that Sasha was unbalanced and I thought this scenario would be just so perfect--her spilling her heart to Tim and Tim not knowing what to do about it. So I set up the scene, not knowing how it would end and was very surprised when a nice neat solution presented itself. If done on screen, anything that got Sasha into Tim's office would be a great thing to play out for a while without such a quick ending. It'd be fun to see Tim fume about what to do to get out of it, and fun to watch how he interacted with Phyllis once he knew the whole story.

Will Mary's Lunch Plans Go A-Rye?

Mary's just such a "helpful" little sprite, showing up here and there for all the wrong reasons. One has to invent places for her to arrive. I'd started to write this as a straight scene of pursuit but I got side-tracked when the idea of Mary popping in and offering lunch arose. But this was mostly just for fun.

That's all for Episode 40's morals. Don't miss Episode 41 and its morals!
