Episode 29 Morals

In plain English, these are the morals from Episode 29:

Has innocent skirt-chasing led to murder?

This is mostly about how pattern Victor's actions and how unbelievable some of what he does is. It's not that I expected him to go after Diane, but the fact is that as soon as he said "let me take you to dinner", I could see the whole formulaic plot pour out into plain view. And so I thought I'd construct something more interesting based around the idea that someone this predictable would be an easy mark for a criminal.

The style of the telling, of course, is based on the movie D.O.A., though the story itself is really quite different. The ``in joke'' here is that I think this Victor and Diane plot was D.O.A.

A minor skirmish over a major skirt

Something seemed a little too perfect about how Nina got out of the bar with Les a week or two ago, so I decided to re-do it myself. They did a nice little Public Service Ad (PSA) on the dangers of being in bars and getting drugged; mine is an additional PSA on the dangers of believing a person holding a badge is a cop. I'd like to believe they were that simple to identify, but in the modern world I have to assume there are non-cops carrying badges, too, and we ordinary people can't tell the difference without verifying through a third party.

Grace's quest homes in on the outskirts of Madison

I apologize for doing a cloning story again so soon, but hey--with these fad themes, one has to strike while the iron is hot. Cloning will probably be around for a long time, actually, but it's very topical now and I thought it'd be fun to have Grace end up with more than she had been shopping for.

I also really didn't like the idea of her kissing people for information, and I wanted to focus on how ridiculous that looked to me.

That's all for Episode 29's morals. Don't miss Episode 30 and its morals!
