Episode 114 Morals

In plain English, these are the morals from Episode 114:

Does Alice have a fighting chance of getting an in for moving in on Victor?

This Alice plot is dragging out too long. What might have been fun originally is languishing on the vine. Can we please move it along? Alice is not billed as a very sympathetic character but she's got some backbone, and I'm looking forward to see her come into play with someone other than punching-bag-Millie.

Also, though I'm quite happy that Victor continues to slide down the corporate ladder toward disaster, I keep worrying that the writers will have a change of heart and rescue him before he ends up at the bottom where he belongs. So this was one of probably many attempts on my part to make sure we get to see him really get to the end of the line.

Will Nick find out he's out if found out for knocking women up and down?

It all seemed overly simplistic to me that Sharon would happen by and hear this conversation. It's not implausible--just boring. So I thought I'd spice it up with a misunderstanding just to show it could have been done another way.

On the other hand, I did need it to be the case that they'd really done the deed for later parody elements to work, so I decided to have the error turn in to the real thing. If I'd come out with two episodes over the last couple of weeks instead of one, I might have split this up into parts for separate episodes. But I didn't, so it might look a little crowded; if it does, sorry about that.

Can Cricket punch in in time to save Sharon from moving out to an Inn?

For two weeks now, since my last episode, my girlfriend's been upset about the fact that they put Sharon into an accident for no apparent reason. The plot doesn't seem like it would be materially different if they'd just sent Sharon straight home to Genoa City. Suddenly, though, when Nikki appeared at the house and asked about the bandages, it occurred to me that it would be great if someone (probably Nikki) concluded incorrectly that Nick had abused Sharon and that Sharon was leaving because of it.

Then, when I saw Cricket getting involved, I saw the opportunity to have her make a mistake. (That would be a first.) So I decided to have her draw the incorrect conclusion instead of Nikki.

Can Esther still help Katherine kick back when kicked out of the mansion?

They've been talking so much about the idea that Katherine would be homeless, I thought it would be fun to try that. After all, Rex was homeless for a while. And also, Jeanne Cooper did great as Marge, and it would be fun to have her switch to a `gutter persona' just for the change of pace.

As Victoria sorts things out in her mind, will she hit on being hit upon?

Good grief. Nine and a half months? Need I say more? It should be obvious what this was all about. Sharon did this, too, with a premature birth at ten months, or something like that. Amazing.

Special footnote about Mr. Silent-Entry-Exit Man

It has driven me crazy forever that Victor just slides into rooms and stands there silently watching people. It was worst with Hope, where it was horribly rude and mean of him to take advantage of her that way, hence the addition of a mention of her in this episode. But it has happened several times recently and I wanted to just give the whole experience a name.

Besides, there was an incident this week where Victor was in Denver and Nikki called him, and then he walked in at the ranch just moments later while Nikki was apparently in the same short converation with Sharon. I've already used teleportation to explain this, and so I figured him being a superhero would be a new way to explain it. As you know, there is always Another Way Out!

That's all for Episode 114's morals. Don't miss Episode 115 and its morals!
